How
To Let A Pro Do All The Work Of Setting You Apart
From Your Competition ...
Most people in the business have no clue on how
to powerfully differentiate themselves from
their competition. Here's the clever approach
that a star student at one of my recent 3-Day
Advanced Workshops used to solve this issue with
very little effort on her part ...
Michele DeStefano of RE/MAX
Real Estate Enterprises was the team leader for
the "Hand Holders" that focused on first time
buyers during the entire workshop (everyone is
part of a highly focused target market team of
their choice for the entire three days). The
challenge was to come up with a powerful and
compelling "Unique Positioning Statement" (UPS)
that would differentiate them from all their other
online competitors.
A "killer" UPS is a single
sentence that when read, seen, or heard by your
target market, they immediately and viscerally:

See the value of your
services;
-
Know you are the "best"; and
-
Want to take immediate action.
Make no mistake, it is very
hard work to come up with a good one. Well,
Michele had the great idea of requesting proposals
from "Virtual
Consultants" who specialized in this kind of
creative writing on the
eLance.com site. By the time she came in the
for next morning's class she had about a
half-dozen bids, and shortly thereafter she had 15
total —averaging just over $68! If you

Here's a great example of how
someone took immediate action on two things they
learned: 1) obtaining a killer UPS; 2)
getting someone else to do the work! It's little
wonder why her team had the most points at the end
of the three days and won a dinner out complements
of Mr. Internet. BTW, here is what Michele had to
