ePOWER TIP: (full story)
Save A Ton Of $$ By Transferring Your Domain Names
...
Can you believe that people are still paying $35/year
for domain names? I know they are because as I speak
around the world many in the audience are blown away
with how much they can save by going to the right
registrar. Well, it just got better, because here's the
inside secret on how you can transfer your existing
domains from more expensive registrars to one where you
only pay $7.75/year.
Chances are that you have one or more of your
domain names coming due for renewal at any given
time. And, your current registrar will be working
hard to have you "re-up" with them
-especially if they are one of the more
high-priced ones.
Now you can smile when you receive that renewal
notice, because you can transfer your domain name
registration to
GoDaddy where it is only $7.75/yr
for transferred domains. And the best part is that
you don't lose the time remaining with your
current registrar. For example, let's assume that
you have four months remaining on your domain name
with your current registrar. You don't have to
wait until it expires to transfer it to
GoDaddy.
Whatever registration period you opt for (1 year,
2 years, etc),
GoDaddy will also include the four
months remaining on your current registration
period. This way you lose nothing by transferring
early (there may be limits to this, so be sure to
check first). If you have many domain names, this
can really add up. When top producer
Roger Lundy
of RE/MAX Real Estate Group in Indianapolis, IN, heard about this during one of my sessions,
he quickly calculated that this one idea would
save him an immediate $4,000!
GoDaddy is my current registrar of choice for
all of my new and transferred domain names. I also
like them because they give you complete control
of every aspect of your registration information
including contact and DNS (Domain Name Server)
information. There is one note of caution however,
when you use GoDaddy to register or transfer your
domain names. During the registration process they
will try to sell you everything under the sun
having to do with Web hosting, domain pointing,
etc. Just ignore all of that and use them for
registration purposes only.
The domain name registration market is far from
being "perfect". This means that there
will be plenty of bargains available in this
highly competitive environment in the foreseeable
future. When I find something better than GoDaddy,
you will be the first to hear about it. Until
then, don't pay any more than you have to, just
GoDaddy!
