KRISTI'S KORNER: (full story)
How To Turn Online Prospects Into Phone Line
Sales! ...
Have you ever wondered, “If so many people are looking
at my listings on REALTOR.com®, why is my email not jam
packed with inquiries?” Well, you are not the first
agent to ponder this. All that traffic on REALTOR.com®
should create a thunderous roar of emails across our
Internet connections like herds of giant buffalo
powerfully crossing the Great Plains into an Inbox that
yodels, “You’ve got leads” upon delivery. Yeeehaaaaw! If
that’s not the case for you, read on to find out
why and what you can do to turn more of these
eyeballs into serious prospects that make your
phone ring.
Well, REALTOR.com® conducted an internal survey
last year and found that 1 out of 3 consumers
reported contacting a REALTOR® from the site.*
GREAT news considering the site attracted 4.5
million unique users in July, according to
ComScore Media Metrics. (I’m no mathematician, but
when you do some figurin’— Hot Dog! — that’s a lot
of contacts being made!). But here's the key: 80% of those who contacted a REALTOR, did it
by phone! Wow.
Well that explains the ratio of traffic to
emails. Crazy Internet consumers like myself are
funny, aren’t we? We want to research online, but
when we’re ready, we want to find you fast by
picking up the phone like Alfred contacting Batman
with instructions. Now that you know this
information, let’s get creative and get your Bat
phone ready for action.
For those of you who are members of REALTOR.com®,
you know you have the ability to add your own
headline and custom ad copy to each and every one
of your listings. I would recommend you add your
phone number as a tag to every headline. But let’s
look at the capabilities of the custom ad copy.
Most of you are probably aware this area accepts
HTML coding. Why not BOLD, INCREASE, COLOR and
MOVE your direct phone number in this section to
look something like this:
That should not only help them find your
number, but get their attention on your listing,
right? How did I do it? Well, I changed into a
mask, a cape and asked Robin to boot up the
computer. Here’s how it works. Look at the
following code:
<marquee behavior=alternate
width="360"
style="font-family: Arial;
font-size: 12pt;
color: red;
font-weight: bold">Call
today at 999 999-9999!</marquee>
You don’t have to be computer geek or Batman to
give this a try!
- Copy this code from this web page (highlight
and right click to copy) and paste into Notepad;
- Simply insert your own phone number;
- Save this new code with your number to your
hard drive for fast future reference;
- Copy the entire code and paste it at the end
of your custom descriptions for ALL of your
properties.
To access your account and do this, simply log
on at
http://ilead.realtor.com and go to Edit My
Listings located in the left side, yellow
navigation bar. Or contact 800 878-4166 and
they’ll help to get you logged in.
It’s that EASY! (BTW, if you don’t like
red for your
Bat phone number, you can substitute other colors.
In fact, you can make edits to any item noted in
blue in the code above,
i.e. font selection, size, etc. Check out
http://www.PageTutor.com for more info and
FREE tutorials on HTML and use of Notepad.)
So, get those hands on your keyboards and start
pasting in those HTML phone numbers so buyers &
sellers like me can reach you like a real estate
super hero! And don’t forget to ask every contact
how they found you. Oh, and for those who enjoy
random trivia, did you know that Burt Ward was a
real estate broker prior to starring as Robin? He
sold two houses. (Obviously, he wasn't on the
Internet!)
