Instant PDFs Without The Cost Or Hassle Of Using Acrobat ...

Many of you have heard me extol the benefits of using eFax Messenger Plus as a free alternative to Adobe Acrobat when producing "universally viewable" documents. However, most clients and prospects don’t have the necessary free eFax viewer installed, therefore its usefulness in those cases is limited.

Since most computer users already have the free Acrobat viewer on their computer, the answer would be to simply send PDF's. The only problem here is that to create PDFs you typically have to use the full version of Acrobat, which costs nearly US $200 and is a bit clumsy to use. Well, not any more. If you currently don't own the full version of Acrobat, you can get a special utility called PDFMailer that allows you to very quickly and easily create and send PDFs of any kind of document. Like eFax Messenger Plus, it installs as a print driver. To send a PDF of say a spreadsheet, you simply "print" the spreadsheet using the PDFMailer print driver and it will automatically create a PDF version of the spreadsheet and attach it to an e-mail that you then address and send. It's that simple.

You can download and use a free version of PDFMailer for as long as you want. However, it contains a one-line ad (about PDFMailer of course) at the top of each page. For only US $49 (as of this writing), you can get the ad-free version, which is a lot less than the full version of Acrobat, and it is much easier to use. While eFax Messenger Plus is easy to use, typically creates smaller file sizes than PDF, and offers the ability to easily annotate the resulting files, there are times when only a PDF will do. In those cases, PDFMailer is an excellent and affordable alternative to the full version of Acrobat.
