Dallas Agent Doubles Business with New Website
Strategy ...
For Douglas Newby of
Douglas Newby & Associates in Dallas, a new
approach in presenting architecturally significant homes
and architect designed homes to his niche market, and a
few simple changes to his website doubled his business
in one short year. Here’s how he did it.

Some websites are successful by bringing in
thousands of buyers. My website is
successful because when people call me they
share my interest and are committed to what
I do. The website is about them, not me. The
site reflects that I understand these
clients and instills in them the confidence
that I can help them find the best home with
the most value.
Your 3-day class
provided the tools for a powerful
exploration of my business. Your class
format is special in that you create an
atmosphere where each member of the class is
eager to come up with the perfect idea for
someone else in the class. When I was
selected for the “hot seat” during the
seminar, there were three major ideas for my
website that came from other people in the
class – these have made a major difference.

My website has been
renamed “SignificantHomes.com from
“Douglas Newby.com” so people know
precisely the emphasis of my work and
experience.

The title “American
Dream by Design” used for Featured
Listings inspires and goes back to the
primal instinct that a home is a great
privilege – but it also raises shelter
to aesthetics.

Each section of the
website is introduced by a compelling
collage of architectural details or
homes signifying my interest and
expertise.
SignificantHomes.com
became a greater tool to sell properties,
and a better vehicle to attract the buyers
for the properties that I offer. As a
result, my business doubled in 2005 over the
previous year. As an example, there were
four houses in the $2 million range that had
been listed with other brokers in MLS for
over a year. Since they were so stale, I did
not put the properties in the MLS, but
relied primarily on my website to sell them.
They were sold over the previous listing
price because buyers were able to get a
fresh look at the properties on my site and
recognize their value.
I’ve most admired your
great passion for providing real value in
your training, and that you love helping
people succeed. As a result, you inspire
generosity and the sharing of ideas among
your students. In that spirit, if other
agents you work with have architecturally
significant properties, I’ll add their
property on my website under their city or
region in the Architecture America section
of SignificantHomes.com, and include a link
back to the agent’s own website to help the
agent sell the property.
