Virginia Agent Grows His Business The Sure Way ...

For Virginia agent Peter Scherman, founding member of The B&B Team, learning how to interact with Internet Empowered Consumers and using VAs has changed the way his team responds to potential clients, and has helped them present a highly professional image that speaks directly to a very specialized niche market of innkeepers. Here's Peter's story...

Hi Michael,

At the time I heard you speak at a local seminar about two years ago, I had already chosen a niche market, and was focusing on ways to grow my business.  I had a logo and The B&B Team name, and was being approached by people who wanted to be a part of the team. The logo and name needed to be protected. In your Total Solution™ 10-Week Telecoaching Program, I found the information I needed to begin protecting our intellectual property, and start building a team to help me handle many aspects of the business.

As a class exercise I put out bids on Elance.com and Guru.com for an IP attorney to trademark The B&B Team name. I chose someone from Guru.com, who was well-educated about every aspect of this process, and took me through it step by step.

The B&B Team's niche market is very specialized, providing broker services and in-depth consultation to innkeepers and bed and breakfast owners. We help clients buy and sell properties in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, and Maine, and provide consultation services nationwide, so it's very important that we have a system to give potential clients what they need and at the same time identify those clients that are a good fit for us. One of the key concepts for me in your program was the importance of a call-to-interaction, and we've developed our Website with this in mind. I also have a better understanding of the Internet Empowered Consumer, and this helped me develop a standard response to inquiries that is very friendly, and makes the person feel comfortable with sharing information as we begin to develop a relationship. Asking for more information helps us screen buyers early in the process, and avoid sending out large quantities of information to people that aren't a good fit for our services.

Education is a very big part of what we do, and we've built a wealth of content into our Website to give people the information they need and at the same time showcase our knowledge, understanding, and expertise in this market.

The concept of Virtual Assistance was also new to me, but I didn't want in house help, so this was a perfect solution. I put in an application with REVA teams and got a terrific team leader who manages projects like database building and management, and newsletter preparation and mailings. With a branch office, having a virtual team to help with essential tasks has really been a good fit.

The 10 week course really opened my eyes to possibilities I had never conceived of, and which are making it possible to grow my business in ways I never dreamed possible – and we're just getting started!
